Part I. Review Basic Vocabulary and Concepts
Find these lessons in the TMM Language Program "French, Everyday Situations, Beginner A1, Basic Concepts 1." This review lasts about 10 hours. If you have recently completed French Beginner I, you may wish to move ahead to Part II. On the other hand, if your French language skills are rusty, you will find these units useful in getting you up-to-speed to continue with the lessons that follow.

Now move ahead into the Language Program "French, Beginner, All Skills," Unit 11, thus taking up our TMM program where French Beginner 1 left off.
11. Objects and animals - Objets et animaux 2:28
- Enhance your facility with describing everyday objects and learn lots of animal names too.
- Vocabulary. Furniture and utensils, office supplies, animals, toiletries.
- Grammar. Pronouns for direct objects, the prepositions "dans" ("in") and "sur" ("on").
12. Adjectives - Adjectifs 2:11
Nobody likes mosquitos but everyone likes a butterfly. After you work through this lesson, you will be able to discuss this in French.
- Vocabulary. Insects, foods and cooking, personal characteristics, expressing your opinion.
- Grammar. The demonstrative pronouns, "comme" ("like," "as" or
- "how"), tonic pronouns, pronunciation of consonants.
13. Meeting People - Lier connaissance 1:37
- You have learned enough now so enjoy yourself at a party! For the last lesson of this level, you will learn more expressions for striking up an acquaintance at a party, talking about yourself and asking about other people.
- Vocabulary. Greetings and pleasantries, judgements and opinions, talk about family and connections.
- Grammar. Talking about the recent past with "venir de," conjugating verbs with "-eler" and "-eter" endings.
Part III. Switch to Intermediate Level.
Congratulations! Now you have completed the Learning Program "Beginner A1." Return to the "Training" tab in your TMM Homepage and change your level from "Beginner" to "Intermediate - A2" in the Language Program, "French, Everyday Situations, All Skills." Then continue with the following lessons.
1. Breakfast - Un petit déjeuner 2:11
- Breakfast at your hotel - learn to speak to the waiter and ask for what you need and how to talk about the various foods served at breakfast.
- Vocabulary. Foods and drinks, social forms of address, talking about your likes and dislikes, inquire about methods of payment.
- Grammar. The difference between "ne … plus" and "plus" ("no more" and "more").
- 2. Cultural activities. Activités culturelles.
Words and grammar are only parts of a system of communication … the cultural context is also important. These brief lessons provide an insight into an aspect of French-language culture.
3. Tea or coffee? - Thé ou café?(1:57)
- What to do if you don't like the meal? In this lesson you will learn how to express your disappointment, send the food back and order another dish.
- Vocabulary. More foods and drinks, eating and cooking utensils, expressing displeasure.
- Grammar. The construction "ce que," talking about things you would like with "aimer," "préférer" in the conditional mood, adverbs of quantity.
4. At the restaurant - Au restaurant (2:46)
- Let's learn how to make the most of your visit to the French restaurant. Discuss your likes and dislikes with the waiter and learn more French words to help you order a delicious meal.
- Vocabulary. Foods, beverages and methods of cooking, seafood and marine animals, tastes and family life.
- Grammar. Forming questions, conjugation of certain verbs in the future tense.

- Learn even more expressions for your restaurant meal, including asking about the ingredients of your menu choices and where they come from.
- Vocabulary. Food and cooking, stages of a meal, food-service personnel; expressing wishes and desires, talking about local flora and fauna.
- Grammar. The indefinite pronoun "tout" ("everyone"), the present tense of the verb "prendre" ("to take").

Now that you've learned how to order a nice meal, prepare to make yourself even more at home. Here you will practice reserving lodgings for your French vacation.
Vocabulary. Dates, types of rental accommodations, rooms, furniture and fittings.
Grammar. Agreement of the participle with the subject in the passé composé, the adverbial construction "ne … que," ("nothing but …"), ordinal numbers, adjectives with the feminine.
This lesson is the last assigned in your My Language Requirement French Beginner 2 course. Now it is time to take your Language Achievement Test, the final assessment in your Tell Me More program. This test becomes available through the "Tests" tab on your TMM Homepage after you have completed 36 hours of practice.
