A challenge for English-speakers is pronouncing the vowel combinations "ei" and "ie."
Speakers of English can follow this rule of thumb: Pronounce the second vowel.
The German combination "ei" rhymes with the English word "eye" and the combination "ie" rhymes with "sea."

Activity 4 Which is which? Click on the question number and listen to the question. The question, "Welches Bild zeigt ..." means "Which picture shows ...?" Choose the correct picture as your answer. Repeat as often as you like to link the pronunciation of the vowel combination with the animal's name.
Activity 5 Click on the picture and listen to the German phrase. Then choose the letter combination you hear in the phrase.
Activity 6 Click on the number and listen to the statement. Look at the pictures and decide whether the statement is true or false (richtig oder falsch).
