Courses for Credit
2. Pay full tuition and take the courses for credit at your college or university.
Advantages:
- You earn college credit hours for your language courses in addition to satisfying your language requirement.
- You can apply your financial aid to pay for these credits.
- A passing grade usually guarantees that you have satisfied your language requirement without the need for a proficiency test.
Disadvantages:
Turkish Aphrodite,
Louvre, Paris
- Cost per course is far higher than with My Language Requirement.
- Language courses are graded and the grade is counted in your grade point average. Stress about the grade can make learning a language much less enjoyable and even interfere with the learning process.
- Starting dates are not flexible. You must take your language midterm and final exam at the same time as your term papers and projects are due in your other classes.
- You may want to use your credit hours for courses in your major or a double major, for more advanced courses in language and culture.
- You may wish to take a little longer or to move forward more quickly to cover your foreign language courses than is possible with the academic calendar offered at your institution.
- Your home school may not offer the language you wish to study. We can also assist students when classes are full or cancelled or there is no section in your chosen language that fits your class schedule.
