Language Placement or Language Proficiency Test
1. Demonstrate language proficiency with a placement test.
Advantages:
- At some schools, scoring at the prescribed level of proficiency means you are not required to take any language classes at all.
- Language placement tests are a routine part of the freshman registration process. These tests allow students who have learned a second language to place into advanced courses.
- If you score into the second course of the language sequence, you can complete your language requirement one semester sooner.
- At most schools, testing into a 102 course does not earn college credit hours for 101, although there are exceptions.
- Instead, you have three "extra" credit hours to use for courses in your major or more advanced courses in your foreign language.
- Be sure to check with your academic advisor to find out exactly how your institution determines satisfaction of the language requirement.
My Language Requirement courses prepare you to take a standardized test of language proficiency or the language placement test at your college or university.

Disadvantages:

- Take greater advantage of the resources of your school by moving into advanced courses sooner.
- We do not offer credit hours for our courses at present, but this works to your advantage: Use your credit hours to take courses in your major, your minor or for study abroad.
